Let's Take A Knee
Professional athletes aren't seen as real human beings and from the looks of the talk about Colin Kaepernick's protest it's very evident. Fans will tell you that they want to watch their favorite teams play or the reporters/anchors debate on who's better or what needs to be done for a certain organization to thrive in success. They don't want to hear about politics in sports. That's understandable but you have to understand that these players are going to be affected by the circumstance afterwards! No one wants to hear about African Americans being treated unequally and that's the cold hard truth and deep down people know it. Everyone talks about how it's disrespecting the flag and our troops but are we not suppose to lay the flag flat? Where is the anger and disrespect there?
Standing for the anthem didn't exist in sports until the military paid the organization for it as a recruiting mechanism. Hmmm, the angry fans fake patriotism is showing right? When it comes to Black Americans and especially the ones who make money and make a professional career out of a certain sport, we are instantly shut down with ignorant rebuttals such as, "You play ball for a living so shut up," or "Black people have it good enough and probably better than white people," and let's not forget the "We're more equal now than before." So now they're dismissing the problem because it's not affecting them so then that means there isn't a problem because they're choosing not to see one.
Kneeling is a symbol of showing vulnerability and humbleness to those whom lost their lives. So why is that so bad? People will tell you that these troops went to fight for our freedom? The First Amendment states, "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abiding the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances." It's only freedom of speech when everyone agrees with you but let you have a different opinion then you should keep your mouth shut.
